Vibe
Immersive nature + Mexican culture + attainable luxury
Ideal for
Families, couples, honeymooners, groups of friends
Not ideal for
Travelers set on a white-sand beach (the beach here is a natural cove) or anyone who dislikes walking (the resort is huge)
Mich's Rating
9/10 — One of a kind
Properties

Hotel Xcaret México
Natural underground rivers, infinity pools, a sheltered cove beach. Architecture woven into the jungle.
Mich's Tip: The pick for families with kids. The family suites (Swim-Up or Casitas) are spectacular, and Xcaret park is connected right to the hotel.

Hotel Xcaret Arte
Art workshops, cooking classes, designer pools. A focus on art and contemporary Mexican gastronomy.
Mich's Tip: The pick for couples and honeymoons. The art workshops (ceramics, painting, mixology) are included, and the restaurants are outstanding.

Best months
November through April (dry, no sargassum, perfect temps of 25-30°C / high 70s-80s°F)
Avoid
September (peak of hurricane and sargassum season). July-August is Mexico's high season (higher prices, bigger crowds)
Sargassum
June through September, sargassum seaweed can hit open beaches. The hotel's cove is sheltered and usually clean, and Xcaret keeps a cleanup crew working constantly.
Weather
Humid tropical. Rain is possible year-round but usually brief. Hurricane season runs June through November.

Mich's Choice — Best Value
Hotel Xcaret Mexico for families (the family suites are incredible and the 8 included parks are unbeatable value). Hotel Xcaret Arte for couples and honeymoons (the art workshops and restaurants are on another level). Book at least 5 nights to make the most of the parks.
Alternatives: If you want a white-sand beach: Nickelodeon or the Cancun hotel zone. If you want something more intimate: Mayakoba (Fairmont, Rosewood, Banyan Tree).
