A guide for moms-to-be

Pregnant with a park trip coming up?

You can absolutely go — and have an amazing time. Here's which rides carry an official expectant-mother advisory at each park, everything you CAN enjoy, and the tips nobody tells you.

The golden rule (read this first)

Every restricted ride posts an "expectant mothers should not ride" advisory AT THE ENTRANCE and in the park app — that sign always outranks any list (including this one). And talk to your doctor before the trip: every pregnancy is different. This guide simply saves you the surprises: it's the current official advisory list.

Official advisory — do not rideNo advisory — enjoy

Walt Disney World (Orlando)

Of ~50 headline attractions, only ~20 carry an advisory. It's the MOST pregnancy-friendly destination: there's plenty left to do.

Magic Kingdom

Official advisory — do not ride

  • Space Mountain
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
  • TRON Lightcycle / Run
  • Tiana's Bayou Adventure
  • The Barnstormer
  • Tomorrowland Speedway

EPCOT

Official advisory — do not ride

  • Test Track
  • Mission: SPACE
  • Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Hollywood Studios

  • Tower of Terror
  • Rock 'n' Roller Coaster

  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
  • Star Tours

Animal Kingdom

Official advisory — do not ride

  • Expedition Everest
  • Avatar Flight of Passage
  • Kali River Rapids
  • Kilimanjaro Safaris

Yes — the safari too: the bumpy terrain is intentional. It surprises many moms.

No advisory — enjoy

  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Haunted Mansion
  • Peter Pan's Flight
  • It's a Small World
  • Jungle Cruise
  • Buzz Lightyear
  • Frozen Ever After
  • Remy's Ratatouille Adventure
  • Soarin' Around the World
  • Spaceship Earth
  • Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway
  • Toy Story Mania
  • Na'vi River Journey
  • Festival of the Lion King
  • every parade, fireworks show and character meet-and-greet

Universal Orlando + Epic Universe

Here the story flips: Universal is the thrill resort, and nearly EVERY ride vehicle carries an advisory (VelociCoaster, Hagrid's, the Harry Potter rides, Mario Kart, Stardust Racers…). The short list is what you CAN do:

No advisory — enjoy

  • Hogwarts Express (the train between parks)
  • Constellation Carousel (Epic Universe)
  • The interactive lands: wands in the Wizarding World and Power-Up Bands in Super Nintendo World
  • Shows: Horror Make-Up Show, Animal Actors, castle viewing
  • All of CityWalk: restaurants, shops and atmosphere

Is Universal worth it while pregnant? If the rest of your family loves coasters, yes — you enjoy the lands (which are stunning on foot) while they ride. If the trip is just for you: maybe save Universal for the return trip with baby.

Disneyland California

Similar to Disney World: nearly all the gentle classics stay on the table.

The tips nobody tells you (from Mich)

  • Heat is the real rival, not the lines: refillable water bottle (free stations everywhere), an air-conditioned break every 2 hours, and if you can pick dates, skip July-August.
  • Walk LESS than you think: 15-20k steps a day is normal at the parks. Plan one park day, one slow day (hotel, pool, Disney Springs / CityWalk).
  • Rider Switch in reverse: your family lines up while you wait with ice cream in the shade — nobody loses their turn. At Disney, ask about queue re-entry if you need a bathroom break mid-line (it happens, a lot).
  • Eat well and often: park snacks are part of the magic (and cravings rule). Book table-service restaurants — you rest while you're at it.
  • Broken-in shoes, compression socks if your doctor suggests them, and the park app handy to check each ride's advisory in the moment.
  • Best souvenir: a "baby's first trip" tee and bump photos in front of the castle — this trip becomes chapter zero of the baby album.

Frequently asked questions

Of course — there's no entry restriction whatsoever. Advisories are per ride (the ones with jarring motion, drops or sudden stops), not for the park.
Most moms prefer the second (weeks 14-27): past the first-trimester nausea and still full of energy. For third-trimester flying, many airlines require a doctor's letter after week 28-36 — check yours and talk to your doctor.
Shows carry no expectant-mother advisory: at audience distance the volume is like an open-air concert. If the noise bothers YOU, stepping a block away from the castle drops the volume a lot without losing the view.
The source of truth is the sign at the entrance and the official park app on your visit day — advisories can change. When in doubt, ask the ride's cast member: it's their job and they're happy to help.
